Manama, Feb. 16 (BNA): The Public Prosecution celebrated 20 years of achievements in a ceremony attended by Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Supreme Judicial Council and President of the Court of Cassation.

The meeting was also attended by Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Nawaf bin Muhammad Al-Maawda, Minister of Social Development Osama bin Ahmed Al-Asfour, Minister of Information Ramadan bin Abdullah Al-Nuaimi, and public figures.

In his speech, Attorney General Dr. Ali bin Fadel Al-Buainain highlighted the constitutional and legal status of the Public Prosecution as a pillar of the judicial system in Bahrain.

The establishment of the Public Prosecution came as a result of the National Action Charter, which received overwhelming support from the people and was launched by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa as a guarantor of procedural legitimacy and individual rights stipulated in the Constitution.

He pointed out that the Public Prosecution is a defender of the state’s interests and capabilities, which are protected by law.

“Hence, the Public Prosecution is an essential partner and an indispensable factor in achieving stability and security,” he said.
