Educating children between the ages of 6 and 12 years within a specific curriculum to develop students’ reading, writing and arithmetic skills. The primary school teacher needs to promote the social and emotional development of each student. The primary school teacher will teach a variety of subjects; Mathematics, English, Arabic, Islamic, Science, ICT, Arts and Physical Education.

Main areas of responsibility
• Make each student feel safe and welcome in your class.
• Be a role model for students in terms of positive behavior, kindness, and respect towards others.
• Plan and deliver lessons that help each student achieve learning and curriculum objectives.
• Create a clean and attractive classroom environment that fosters imagination and self-esteem through the presentation of student work.
• Develop and implement an appropriate chapter management system.
• Adapting standard teaching methods to meet students’ different needs and interests.
• Establishing and influencing acceptable rules of behavior.
• Implementation and follow-up of approved disciplinary interventions.
• Make referrals for help when necessary.
• Clearly communicate your needs and expectations to your Teaching Assistant.
• Contribute to educating students about educational needs and achievement potential.
• Plan daily and long-term lesson plans according to the prescribed curriculum. Assess, evaluate and assign appropriate work to students.
• Develop children’s interests, abilities and coordination using a variety of creative activities including art, sports and music.
• Maintain productive work habits and discipline in the classroom. Supervising students throughout the day, whether inside or outside the classroom, during breaks.
• Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders including parents, students, colleagues and department heads.
• Discuss students’ progress with parents, guardians, administrators, and other professionals as necessary.
• Participation in school associations, staff, groups or other meetings.
• Organizing, attending and supervising school activities. Trips, school concerts, camps and sporting events.
• Contribute to IEP conferences and formally selected student reviews.
• Ensure that the contact book is updated on a daily basis in appropriate cases.
• Collaborate with parents, special educational needs coordinator and other student support.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the Individualized Education Plan or Individualized Behavior Plan for the identified students.
• Participation and presentation of professional development seminars.
• Adopting high standards of professional practice through peer review and observation.
• Provide extracurricular activity once a week after class time.
• Providing educational opportunities outside the classroom.
• Maintain accurate records of class attendance and student progress.
• Implementation and follow-up of approved disciplinary interventions.
• Organizing classroom presentations and learning resources.
• Prepare lesson materials and resources in accordance with school procedures.
• Ensure that equipment and facilities are clean and safe.
• Organizing trips for your students and coordinating with the head of the department and head of trips and activities.
• Selection and use of appropriate teaching methods and materials for students and learning activities.
• Ensure that students’ daily and weekly assessment results are uploaded to iCampus before the end of the week – this should be done regularly.
• Communicate with parents through the parental portal on a regular basis and you must respond to parents’ messages within 24 hours.
• Ensure that display boards display students’ work and implement a new topic every 3-4 weeks.
• Assisting with late-school homework after school.
• Required to attend duties assigned by the Supervising Head.

• Bachelor of Education or its equivalent: (Example: Bachelor of Primary Education, Bachelor of Primary Education).
• At least two years’ experience as a primary teacher, with letters of experience in the head, signed and stamped by the school.
• He should not be more than 58 years old.

• Grades 5-6, male and female.

Al Shomookh International School (SIS) is a new global K-12 school in Muscat. The school was opened by Global Education Services (GES) for the 2015/2016 academic year in Al Hail.
