Rome, April 27 (BNA): Pope Francis canceled his engagements on Tuesday due to a pain in his right knee.
“Due to pain in his knee and on the advice of a doctor, Pope Francis has canceled his planned activities for the day,” the Holy See’s press office said.
The 85-year-old pope will not attend the currently sitting Council of Cardinals, according to the German news agency dpa.
Pope has had problems with his right knee for some time. His engagements were canceled on Friday to allow time for a medical examination.
Walking up and down the stairs became noticeably painful for the Pope. On Sunday, he did not say mass as usual at St Peter’s but sat in a chair at his side to give a sermon.
This was also the case during the Easter celebrations. On his return from Malta to Rome at the beginning of the month, Francis described his state of health as “fickle”.
