Parliamentary committee highlights Bahraini press’ contributions to development march

Manama, May 7 (BNA) The Services Committee of the House of Representatives affirmed the great national role played by the national press in educating the public and contributing to the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Khalifa is a supporter of freedom of opinion and expression as well as the press.

In a statement on the occasion of Bahrain Press Day, which falls on May 7 of each year, the committee praised the efforts of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to activate the role of the press. Paving the way for her to carry out her duties and responsibilities professionally.

The committee praised the rich record of the Bahraini press, stressing the need to enact a modern and enlightened press law during the next legislative session to support and motivate press institutions and the Bahrain Journalists Syndicate, given their important national role, and to keep pace with the technological and digital developments that the world is currently witnessing.
