Oil Minister takes part in Mediterranean Dialogues- MED

Rome, Dec. 6 (BNA): The Minister of Oil and Environment, the Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Dinah, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and thanks for the support of His Highness the Kingdom of Bahrain, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has affirmed. Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on achieving the goals of sustainable development.

Dr. Ben Dinah was speaking during the opening session of the Eighth Mediterranean Dialogues Forum, which was inaugurated here today by the Italian President, Sergio Mattarella, in the presence of the Presidents of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould El Ghazouani, and the Presidents of Nigeria, Mohamed Buhari.

During his participation in a panel discussion entitled “Towards a broader model for energy security,” the Minister of Oil affirmed that Bahrain continues to develop and implement ambitious development plans and initiatives to achieve its environmental and climate commitments.

He indicated that this includes reducing emissions by 30% by 2035, increasing the area of ​​mangrove trees four times compared to the current area, doubling the size of green spaces, using renewable energy, and reaching net zero by 2060.

The minister stressed the importance of serious dialogue between various countries to discuss issues related to the security and stability of the global economy, to ensure the continued provision of energy to all countries at competitive prices, and to support investment in urban development, in addition to that. To support scientific research and the use of modern technologies to switch to renewable energy and reach net zero.

Launched in 2015, MED is a global hub for high-level dialogues on broader Mediterranean issues, engaging prominent leaders of Mediterranean governments, business, civil society, media and academia.

Rome MED focuses on four main themes, namely shared prosperity, shared security, migration, civil society and culture.
