Nsuo project to provide clean, safe water to nine villages in Ghana

Manama, April 28 (BNA): An estimated 62,000 Ghanaians are expected to benefit from the “Nso” project launched by the Rotaract Bahrain team.

The objective of the ‘Nsuo’ project (Water in Twi, the language spoken in Ghana) is to provide clean and safe water to nine villages in Ghana, which will include a water pump, well and irrigation canals.

The Rotaract Bahrain team is set to travel with other philanthropists Thursday to Ghana to launch the NSU project, which will run until May 4.

This project is supported by the Governorate of Manama, the Rotary Clubs of Manama, Salmaniya, Adliya, Seef and Good Cause, and its member Antonette Avila, who is part of the group traveling to Ghana. Avila is also Vice President (Outside) of the Philippine American Association (Fil-Am) in Bahrain.

Apart from building a water pump and a well and constructing irrigation canals, the team will visit schools and distribute school supplies, lunch and Ramadan boxes for primary school children.

Once the water projects are completed, the team is expected to raise the Bahrain flag in the area as a sign of solidarity.

Rotaract President, Tanima Chakravorty, expressed her gratitude to everyone who made the project possible, including volunteers from across Bahrain and Ghana.
