NBR stressed the importance of complying with the first implementation phase, which began with receiving orders for the purchase of digital stamps on November 20, 2022, from taxpayers registered with the NBR through an electronic system while allowing the trading of molasses products that do not contain digital stamps in local markets.
This will lead to the smooth implementation of the second step, which begins on March 19, and which includes the implementation of the scheme on all imported products through customs clearance, as all imported hookah molasses products reach the entry point of the Kingdom of Bahrain. You must have a digital stamp.
The final achievement will include implementation in the local markets, where the possession, trading, sale or supply of “narghile molasses” products without a digital seal in the local market will be prohibited by June 18.
Therefore, as of June 18, any “hookah molasses” product in the supply chain that does not contain a digital stamp must be returned through the relevant supply chain to either be destroyed or transported for sale outside the territory of Bahrain; This is to ensure effective implementation starting from this date to avoid any violations through inspection efforts or other operations by NBR, which would require further legal action such as the imposition of administrative penalties or the filing of a criminal case for tax evasion.
