Manama, Apr. 30 (BNA): The National Health Regulatory Authority confirmed that the markets of the Kingdom of Bahrain are free of “contaminated” cough syrup made in India, which the World Health Organization has warned of due to the unsafe substances it contains.


The authority stated in a statement that the aforementioned cough syrup is not registered in the Kingdom and therefore was not imported to the Bahraini market, stressing that it is not allowed to enter any products that are not manufactured in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, approved and registered. factories in the Kingdom.


The authority also affirmed its keenness on the safety of medicines and pharmaceutical preparations circulating in the Kingdom, as Bahrain takes strict measures to ensure the health, safety and efficiency of all medicines, in a manner that guarantees the preservation of the health and safety of citizens. and residents.


In this context, the authority said that it is following the latest developments in this regard, noting that it is in constant contact with the pharmaceutical authorities and health services in the GCC countries regarding medicines and their safety.
