Bahrain participates in GCC Food Safety Committee meeting

Manama, June 10 (BNA): Health Minister Dr. Jalila bint Al-Sayed Jawad Hassan headed the Kingdom’s delegation participating in the seventh ministerial meeting of the GCC Food Safety Committee, which was held remotely by the GCC Secretariat. -general.


Omani Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Dr. Saud Hammoud Al Habsi, and Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Affairs and Development at the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Khalid bin Ali Al-Sunaidi, delivered statements during the opening session.


Participants discussed a range of topics, including the Gulf Cooperation Council countries’ guide for controlling imported food and the unified Gulf food law, among others.


They also discussed the establishment of a Gulf Center for Food Safety, the GCC countries’ celebration of World Food Safety Day.


The Kingdom’s participation in the ministerial meeting comes in its keenness to continue building on the achievements of joint Gulf work, especially with regard to efforts to ensure food safety.
