HH Shaikh Nasser visits BMP; hails work progress

Manama, July 4 (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bapco Energy Company, today visited the work sites of His Majesty the King. Bapco Modernization Program (BMP).

While reviewing the sites, His Highness Sheikh Nasser was briefed on the progress of the BMP project, which is the largest strategic national project ever in the history of the Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) and the Kingdom.

His Highness expressed his great admiration for the stages that have been achieved so far and destinations related to the main aspects of the promising project.

A ceremony was held to mark the completion of the main building of control units south of the Bapco refinery, which includes all control, monitoring and operational management systems for all new facilities of the BMP project.

His Highness praised the progress made since his last visit to the project work sites, congratulating Bapco’s work team and the contractors assigned to implement the current stage, praising their success in completing the works according to the specified schedule.

During the event, His Highness Sheikh Nasser toured a unique 3D model of the project, which is the first of its kind to be implemented in the Middle East with 3D technology. The model clearly and accurately shows all aspects of the mega-project facilities.

His Highness Sheikh Nasser spoke with a number of young Bahrainis and youth working on the project, including operators, engineers, specialists and technicians, who all contributed effectively to the completion of this advanced project, praising their professionalism and dedication and renewing His Highness’ full confidence in the project. As well as in their capabilities and capabilities that qualify them to manage this important site.

The field visit was attended by members of the Bapco Energy Board of Directors, the CEO of Bapco Energy, Mark Thomas, the Bapco Board of Directors, Abdullah Jihad Al Zain, the CEO of Bapco, Dr. Abdul Rahman Jawahery, and senior executives of Bapco.

The Bapco Chairman expressed his thanks to His Highness Sheikh Nasser for the inauguration of the new building, praising the encouragement of His Highness to the project work team and contractors.

Bapco’s modernization program is the largest project ever undertaken in Bahrain’s history, and for Bapco. This multi-billion dollar project is the largest capital investment in its 90-year history.

The massive strategic project is being implemented by a number of reputable global companies, including Technip Energies (Italy), Technicas Reunidas (Spain) and Samsung (South Korea).

BMP aims to increase refining capacity, enhance product list and improve energy efficiency to make the Bahrain refinery one of the most competitive in the region and one of the most environmentally friendly.
