Deadly flooding hit several countries at once

Washington, July 18 (BNA) Heavy rains accompanied by deadly floods hit the United States and several other countries over the weekend and last week.

Reuters reported that dozens of deaths occurred in the central and southern regions of South Korea, including the Cheongju region where floods engulfed a tunnel and motorists trapped in their submerged cars drowned.

In the United States, floods have claimed five lives in the town of Upper Macfield, Pennsylvania, as a search is underway for two missing children. Flooding also hit parts of New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York and New Jersey this past weekend. Governor Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency in New Jersey after severe damage caused by floods and landslides.

This comes on the heels of the ongoing floods last week in India, Japan, China, Turkey and the United States
