Manama, July 20 (BNA): Engineer Wael bin Nasser Al-Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, praised the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the Public Authority for Sports and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, to reforestation sports facilities.
This initiative was launched by the Public Security Agency in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture.
Al-Mubarak affirmed that His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s sponsorship of this initiative comes within the framework of national initiatives to implement the vision of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and implement the national campaign for afforestation (Forever Green), which aims to double the number of trees in Bahrain, increase green spaces, and achieve environmental balance. These efforts come as part of Bahrain’s ongoing efforts to reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2035 and achieve zero carbon neutrality by 2060.
The minister expressed his appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad for this important initiative that creates a healthy sports environment and chooses sports facilities by creating an ideal environment. He also affirmed the commitment of the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture to create more afforestation initiatives in sports facilities, corridors and gardens, in a way that contributes to the ability of citizens and residents to practice sports in an ideal and healthy environment.
Al-Mubarak added that we are working to encourage afforestation in sports corridors and facilities because of its positive health benefits for sports fans, in addition to creating an attractive element through the appropriate development and afforestation of the facilities.
