Manama, July 17 (BNA): The second classification championship for snooker, organized by the Bahraini Billiards and Snooker Federation, was launched with the participation of 55 players at Al-Ahly Sports Club in Mahooz.
The tournament witnessed the distribution of players into 16 groups, half of which were four players, while each group included three players. The competition reached the semi-final stage, where Habib Sabah, Ahmed Al-Hayki, Muhammad Al-Sheikh and Younis Saqr qualified for this stage. The final match will be held on Tuesday 18 July.
In the quarter-finals, Younes Saqr qualified by defeating Khalil Boussif, with four frames to three, after Boussif was leading at the start with two frames to none.
Mohammed Al-Sheikh secured his place in the semi-finals with a 4-to-3 victory over Hisham Al-Saqer. While Ahmed Al-Haiki advanced in the standings after defeating Abdullah Majeran with four tires to three. The first qualifier for the semi-finals was the star of the national team, Habib Sabah, who won his match against Iyad Al-Ansari with four frames to none.
For his part, Hussein Bubshait, head of the National Teams Committee in the Saudi Football Association, said that the tournament witnessed the participation of prominent players with the aim of improving their ranking and qualifying for future tournaments in which the national team will participate. organized annually by the federation to provide the opportunity to benefit from it effectively in preparing players for international, Asian and global competitions.
Bubshait praised the high level of competition and the intense and volatile matches in the quarter-finals. He highlighted the outstanding performance of all players in these matches.
