Manama, June 19 (BNA): His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, praised the efforts of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad. Al Khalifa, Senior Vice President of SCYS, President of the Public Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.
His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Rashid Al Maktoum also praised the recent achievements of the Manama and Al-Najma clubs, which won the West Asian Premier League (WASL) and the 25th championship of the Asian Men’s Handball Clubs League, respectively.
His Highness Sheikh Nasser made these statements during his presidency of the first meeting of the Supreme Council for Youth after it was restructured by royal decree.
The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad and members of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.
His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Rashid Al Maktoum congratulated the new members with the royal trust that is dear to them, wishing them success in performing their duties.
He also commended the outgoing SCYS members for the tremendous efforts they made to develop the youth and sports sector in Bahrain.
His Highness Sheikh Nasser also approved the National Youth Empowerment Strategy, which aims to strengthen the role of Bahraini youth through a number of projects that hone their skills.
He also praised the new “Masari” project, which aims to hone the capabilities and skills of young people and develop their talents through a series of initiatives and programs in various fields.
SCYS discussed the main projects that the Ministry of Youth is currently implementing, including Youth City 2030.
SCYS members also discussed the latest developments in the fifth edition of the King Hamad Award for Youth Empowerment to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), whose cycle ends in November 2024.
The committee also adopted a plan to make the King Hamad Award for Youth Empowerment to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals an international award during the next two years.
The committee also reviewed the proposal of the Public Authority for Sports to make sports an industry to increase cooperation with the private sector and promote sports tourism.
The Supreme Council for Youth and Sports also discussed the “Aspirations” programme, which was announced last week based on the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad.
The program aims to develop Bahraini sports, as many pioneering initiatives will be launched.
