Mason Mount says goodbye to Chelsea ahead of $69 million Man United transfer

Manchester July 5 (US): Mason Mount gave an emotional farewell to Chelsea fans on Tuesday as the England international nears a move to Manchester United.

A graduate of the famous Chelsea academy, Mount spent 18 years at the London club.

The Associated Press reports that he is now on the verge of joining Premier League rivals United in a deal worth 55 million pounds ($69 million) and is set to sign a five-year contract.

He said in a video message posted on Instagram. “I know some of you will not be happy with my decision, but it is the right one for me at this moment in my career.”

Mount, who has light brown hair and a tan finish from a recent vacation, said the fans deserve more than “just a written statement,” adding, “We’ve been through a lot together.”

“I wanted to tell you how grateful I am for all of your support over the past 18 years,” he said.
