NAO aims to improve services

Manama, September 12 (BNA) The Auditor General of the National Audit Office (NAO) Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa affirmed that the work of audit institutions is subject to the principle of protecting public funds and verifying their proper management.

He pointed to the importance of development, modernization and keeping pace with developments to raise the level of achieved results and services provided.

In his speech in the Journal of Financial Supervision issued by the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI), he indicated that forensic audit has proven to be an effective and reliable tool in strengthening audit methods and achieving more specialized and technical results.

The NAO Auditor General defined forensic auditing as the purpose of detecting cases of corruption and fraud of a financial and administrative nature.

He added that the investigative or forensic audit includes submitting reports of the results to the judicial, state and competent authorities, with recommendations on how to avoid violations.

He pointed out that the Bureau has enhanced the skills and capabilities of its staff in the field of investigative auditing, in cooperation with reputable international institutions, and supported its cadres in obtaining professional forensic audit qualifications to provide recommendations to the bodies covered by the audit mandate in the agency.

He stressed that the office aspires to expand the scope of investigative audit work, which requires strengthening its capabilities in the field of forensic auditing by reviewing relevant policies and updating relevant audit tools to keep pace with developments in this field.

“Keeping up-to-date with the latest developments in any profession and business remains the most important way to ensure success, continuity and improve results and services, while maintaining rules and regulations in line with laws, and defining requirements that are certainly applicable to various types of audit work.”

He stressed the importance of coordinating with the Saudi Arabian Organization to develop training programs aimed at building capacities and exchanging experiences in various fields.
