‘Muslim-Christian dialogue committee meeting to boost coexistence, solidarity’

Manama, May 24 (BNA): Religious leaders stressed the importance of promoting interfaith dialogue in order to reach a cooperative, solidarity and cooperation society.
This came on the sidelines of the first meeting of the Standing Committee for Islamic-Christian Dialogue between the Council of Muslim Elders and the Vatican, which Manama hosted today.

The meeting included representatives of the Council of Muslim Elders and the Vatican House for Interfaith Dialogue.

In this regard, the former deputy of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Dr. Abbas Shoman, stressed the importance of holding the meeting in the Kingdom, indicating that he would confirm and implement the principles of interfaith dialogue, and propose mechanisms for this. promote them.

He added that he will benefit from common values ​​to enhance dialogue and pave the way for coexistent societies that preserve human dignity and support development paths in all fields.

Member of the Council of Muslim Elders, Senator Dr. Zulkifli Muhammad al-Bakri, praised the Kingdom’s hosting of the first meeting of the Standing Committee, indicating that it will contribute to consolidating Islamic-Christian dialogue and rapprochement, towards achieving the interests of all mankind. .

He pointed out that the meeting of the Standing Committee for Islamic-Christian Dialogue is one of the outcomes of the “Bahrain Forum for Dialogue: East and West for Human Coexistence,” which was held in Bahrain under the auspices of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. in November 2022.

He stressed that the intensification of efforts and initiatives aimed at promoting dialogue and coexistence in the world and strengthening the Islamic-Christian dialogue was on the agenda of the first meeting of the Standing Committee.
