Rabat, May 9 (BNA): The governments of Morocco and the United Kingdom signed today a strategic framework for cooperation in the field of climate action, clean energy and green growth.


Signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, and the Secretary of State for the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and the United Nations of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Lord Ahmed of Wimbledon, this Strategic Framework aims to support, facilitate and strengthen bilateral cooperation on climate action, clean energy and growth Green to support Morocco’s development towards a sustainable, low-carbon and resilient economy with the aim of ensuring a responsible and rapid transition from fossil fuels. to clean and affordable energy, according to MAP.


It also aims to systematically integrate climate action and its impacts into planning and action in the government and private sectors, as well as the growth of strong, diversified and sustainable economic/production sectors in Morocco that provide good job, investment and growth opportunities.


The signing of this cooperation framework comes on the sidelines of the fourth session of the Moroccan-British Strategic Dialogue, chaired by Bourita and Lord Ahmed of Wimbledon, which was marked by a joint statement in which the two parties welcomed the excellent level of bilateral relations. They reaffirmed their common desire to further strengthen their strategic partnership.


This strategic dialogue, which kicked off in London on July 5, 2018, aims to consolidate the historical ties between the two kingdoms and further strengthen bilateral relations.


It is based on four axes: the political and diplomatic axis, security cooperation, economic cooperation, and cultural and educational cooperation.


Working groups have been set up within each pillar of cooperation to enhance exchanges and consultation on priority bilateral issues and identify new opportunities for cooperation in these areas.
