Moon-sighting panel to convene on Saturday

Manama, April 28 (BNA): The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs announced that the Crescent Monitoring Committee will meet tomorrow evening, Saturday, to receive news and testimonies about the birth of the new crescent.

Seeing the moon means the end of Ramadan, the ninth month on the lunar calendar.

The council urged everyone who sees the crescent to contact the committee.

In the Islamic calendar, Ramadan follows the month of Shawwal. The first three days of the month are celebrated as Eid al-Fitr.

Ministries and public institutions in Bahrain will remain closed during Eid.
