Beijing, May 22 (BNA): Argentina captain Lionel Messi will lead his team against Australia in a friendly match in Beijing next month on his first visit to China in six years and is expected to spark a stampede for tickets.
The Argentine embassy in China said on Monday that the World Cup winners will play Australia on June 15, bringing Messi to the country for the first time since 2017, Reuters reported.
Messi has received a standing ovation on each of his previous visits to China, which has a huge soccer fan base despite the men’s national team struggling.
