Market inspections stepped up as Bahrain gears up for Eid Al Fitr

Manama, April 29 (BNA) The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism is intensifying inspections of markets at a time when Bahrain is preparing to receive the blessed Eid al-Fitr.

Inspectors conducted visits to busy markets and other shopping outlets, including the central market in Manama and the meat market.

“The inspection teams reported that there are sufficient quantities of fruits, vegetables and meat at normal prices in the markets,” said Assistant Undersecretary for Control and Resources Abdul Aziz Al-Ashraf, indicating that more quantities will be provided in the coming days.

Al-Ashraf explained that the inspection visits also focused on shopping outlets that sell Bahraini clothes, perfumes, shoes, sweets and nuts, to verify the validity of promotions and prices.

“The changes that occurred in the price hike of some products were only temporary and for reasons related to the country of origin,” he said, adding that prices have stabilized in the markets, according to him.
