Man United manager Ralf Rangnick takes job as Austria coach

Vienna, April 29 (BNA) Ralf Rangnick, interim coach of Manchester United, was appointed on Friday as coach of the Austrian national team.

The Austrian Football Association said Rangnick will start working with Austria in late May before facing Croatia in the Nations League on June 3. It came shortly after United’s last scheduled Premier League game against Crystal Palace on May 22, the Associated Press (AP) reported.

Austria said it had agreed a two-year deal with an automatic two-year extension until the 2026 World Cup if Austria qualified for Euro 2024.

“It is an honor for me to take the position of coach,” Rangnick said in a statement, adding that he was looking forward to taking “a young team hungry for success” to the European Championships.

Rangnick said on Thursday that he intends to continue in his role with United as advisor when Eric ten Hag arrives as coach at the end of the season and that the arrangement “will leave room for another job”.
