Lulu opens first LuluXpress Fresh Market

Manama, March 23 / BNA / As part of community development projects, Lulu Group, one of the leading companies in the retail sector, cooperated with the Ministry of Housing and opened the first fresh Lulu Express market, adding a new dimension to the commitment of the Lulu Group. To serve the newly developed areas in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, inaugurated today, Wednesday, the tenth branch of Lulu Group in Dana Al Lawzi in Hamad Town, in line with its expansion plans.

The inauguration was attended by Zayed Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, His Excellency Basem bin Yaqoub Al Hamar, Minister of Housing, and Yousef Ali, Managing Director and Chairman of Lulu Group, during the grand opening of the Lulu Express Fresh Market. LuLu Group Manager, Juzer Rupawala, and LuLu senior officials and employees were also present.

“Thank you to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their support,” said Yusuf Ali, Managing Director of Lulu Group.

I would like to take this opportunity to extend my thanks to His Majesty the King and the Crown Prince for granting me my first Golden Residency in the Kingdom of Bahrain. I am very grateful and humble.

“Today we launched a LuLu Cares campaign in support of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation where when our clients arrive at the counter, our staff will urge them to donate whatever amount they wish to donate to the RHF. It is a social responsibility for everyone to come forward generously for this noble cause,” he said.

He said that through this CSR project, every shopper in all LuLu Hypermarkets in Bahrain can donate any amount large or small towards the “LuLu Cares” charity campaign and the RHF fund will use this group in order to take care of the orphans in their care.

With the holy month being one of the busiest shopping seasons in the region, the group hopes to help the Bahraini public contribute to a noble cause.

“This is the tenth branch of Lulu Hypermarket that we have opened and from here we will move to the areas where there are new communities – this is in line with the vision of the Government of Bahrain to develop the community areas while increasing the population. We are coordinating with the Ministry of Housing to reach the communities in the new housing areas.” It’s our new motto, instead of people coming to us, we should connect with people. So, there are four more branches to open soon and more projects will follow.”

He said Lulu Group has five projects in the pipeline and has been delayed due to the pandemic.

The opening ceremony was also attended by the undersecretaries of the ministries, the Secretary-General of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation, Dr. Mustafa Al-Sayed, the Indian Ambassador, Piyush Srivastava, and dignitaries.
