Kings use early 3s, big 4th quarter to top Grizzlies 133-100

Sacramento, Jan. 24 (U.S.): Trey Lyles scored a season-high 24 points, Harrison Barnes scored 15 of his 20 in the first quarter at Sacramento, and the Kings beat the Memphis Grizzlies by a margin of 133-100 Monday night.

The Kings tied the NBA record with 12 first-quarter three-pointers on just 13 attempts and scored 47 points. But Sacramento didn’t leave the game until it beat Memphis, 33-10, in the fourth quarter.

Lyles was 6-for-8 from a 3-point range for the Kings (27-19), who have won seven of their last eight games, the Associated Press reports.

“It’s beautiful,” Lyles said. “We have another game on Wednesday. Let’s see if we can do it again.”

Domantas Sabonis finished with 14 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds to complete his first triple-double of the season. Sabonis leads the NBA in double-doubles with 36.

Keegan Murray also finished with 20 points, and Daron Fox had 17 points and 10 assists.

“A great team win,” said Kings coach Mike Brown. “I thought defensively in the second half, we were good.”

Desmond Bean scored 21 points for Memphis (31-16), which played without Ja Morant and Stephen Adams. The Grizzlies have lost three in a row after 11 straight games.

“They hit the ball really well tonight,” said Brandon Clarke. “We didn’t have an answer.”

Jaren Jackson, Jr. finished with 19 points, Dillon Brooks scored 13 and added six assists. The Grizzlies visit the Golden State on Wednesday.
