Jamieson maintains 1-stroke lead after 3 rounds in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi Jan. 22 (BUS): Scott Jamison continued his path to a winning streak in the Abu Dhabi Championship by hitting a 6-foot-tall birdie on the last hole to maintain his one-stroke lead at the finish. From the third round on Saturday, the Associated Press reported.

The Scottish player, seeded 336 and in pursuit of his first title since 2012, shot a 4 under 68 and was under 11 in his first European Tour event of 2022 after breaking a tie with Shane Lowry and Thomas Peters (both 67). Jamison led by one stroke after all three rounds.

Lowry was free of speculation around Yas Links as he looked to win in Abu Dhabi for a second time, following his 2019 win that culminated later that year by winning the British Open.

This week’s strong winds reminded us of those at the British Open and Lowry looked at home in the conditions.

The earliest to drop a shot was at No. 18 when mixing with the can saw Lowry take a shot in the wrong direction, his ball almost out of the water down the left side of the hole.

Peters also made five and left no ghost to stand a good chance of winning a sixth European Tour title.

Seven-seeded Norwegian Victor Hovland and is seeking his third title in his last four events, missed a partial throw inside two feet on the 18th hole to hit a 70 and drop to fourth with Shubankar Sharma (67).

The record was much lower than it was on Friday, when winds of up to 40 mph (64 kph) off the Persian Gulf coast caused mayhem.
