Jackson’s layup propels Clippers to 111-110 win over Lakers

Washington, Feb. 4 (US): Reggie Jackson scored 25 points, including a driving stop with four seconds left, as the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Los Angeles Lakers 111-110 Thursday night.

There were five major changes in the last 63 seconds, including the Jackson Award winner. Anthony Davis, who led the Lakers with 30 points and 17 rebounds, had a chance to win but missed an opportunity as time ran out, according to the Associated Press.

Marcus Morris Sr. led the Clippers with 29 points, while Serge Ibaca added 20 points and nine rebounds. Morris made six three-pointers, of which one from the left corner gave the Clippers a 109-108 advantage with 18 seconds left. The Lakers regained the lead over the Davis dunk before Jackson’s decisive throw.

The Clippers led by 17 minutes with four minutes left in the third quarter before the Lakers began to lose. The Clippers have won both interviews this season, and 30 of the last 37.

Malik Monk scored 21 points for the Lakers and Russell Westbrook 17 points.

The Clippers had a six-point advantage at the end of the first half before outselling the Lakers 24-13 over the first eight minutes of the third quarter to lead 84-67 on 10 points from Jackson and eight for Morris.

The Lakers trailed 94-78 in the last minute of the third quarter before going up with 12 consecutive points, including six from Westbrook to return to the game.

The Clippers managed to push the lead to 104-97 with 3:27 left before the Lakers scored eight straight points, including the 11-foot jump by Westbrook, to take a 105-104 lead with 63 seconds left.


There were 11 front changes and 10 first-half head-offs before the Clippers closed out the game 9-3 for a 60-54 first-half advantage.
