Italy finance police search Juventus offices in player trading probe

Rome, November 27 (BNA): Italian financial police searched the offices of Italian club Juventus in Turin and Milan, searching for documents related to the trading between players between 2019 and 2021, the public prosecutor said.

According to Reuters, Juventus (JUVE.MI), the most successful Italian club with 36 titles, is listed on the Milan Stock Exchange and its largest shareholder is Exor (EXOR.MI).

In a statement released late Friday, Turin Public Prosecutor Anna Maria Loreto said the investigation is looking into whether senior managers at Juventus made false contacts to investors and invoiced for non-existent transactions.

“Several transfers of professional players and the services provided by some of the agents involved in the relevant mediation are being studied,” Loreto said.

There was no immediate comment on Juventus and Exor when asked by Reuters about the investigation.

In September, Juventus said that Italian market regulator CONSOB was looking into revenue received from player trading.

Last month, the Italian Federal Prosecutor opened an investigation into a number of transfers of footballers in the Italian Serie A.
