Madrid, July 7 (BUS): Italian singer Raffaella Cara, a pop icon of the 20th century both at home and in many Spanish-speaking countries, has erected an arena in the Spanish capital named in her honor one year after her death.
The Madrid municipality held a party on Wednesday to inaugurate the plaza with a plaque illustrating the artist, who died last July at the age of 78, according to the Associated Press.
The town hall said it wanted to “honor the Italian artist, who had strong connections to Spain and its capital, where she pursued a large part of her career”.
The palette showed her from the shoulders up, highlighting her signature platinum blonde hair and short bangs.
Born in Bologna in 1943, Kara began her varied career as a singer, dancer, television presenter, and actress when she was still a child.
It became a staple of Italian television, but also conquered fans in Spain and Latin America in the mid-1970s. The songs “Fiesta” and “Calente, Caliente”, among others, were recorded in Spanish.
