Isa Award reflects Bahrain’s commitment to humanitarian work, says Information Minister

Manama, Feb. 20 (BNA): Information Minister Dr. Ramadan bin Abdullah Al-Nuaimi said that the Isa Award for Service to Humanity, sponsored by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, reflects Bahrain’s support for human values.

He pointed out that the award bears the name of the late Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, in memory of his legacy and national achievements that marked the history of Bahrain.

He praised the award as one of the fruits of the comprehensive development led by His Majesty the King and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Dr. Al Nuaimi’s statements came during his meeting with representatives of the regional and international media, on the eve of the ceremony that will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, at the Isa Cultural Center, where the award will be presented to the Nepali ophthalmologist, Dr. .

He praised the human story of the world-famous Dr. Sanduk Root for creating a new way to treat cataracts and developing a new IOL that can be produced at a much cheaper price than its counterparts.

He praised His Majesty the King’s vision, which set a global example to follow, by emphasizing the humanitarian spirit and inclusive humanity despite cultural, regional and religious differences.

Speaking to the media, the Minister highlighted Bahrain’s commitment as an advocate for peace in the world.

He conveyed the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Special Representative of His Majesty the King and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Isa Award for Service to Humanity, to the guests of Bahrain.

He stressed the importance of such events that receive media attention, indicating that the Kingdom of Bahrain welcomes meaningful media coverage that highlights the honorable efforts that serve humanity.

He said that the fifth edition honors Dr. Sandek Root, whose innovative invention has benefited thousands of people who have lost their sight and helped reduce the cost of treatment.
