Inter moves to within 1 point of Serie A leader with 1-0 win

Milan, April 9 (BNA) Serie A champion Inter Milan advanced by one point over the league leaders and rival AC Milan, with a 2-0 victory over Hellas Verona on Saturday.

Ivan Perisic made first-half goals for Nicolo Barilla and Eden Deco, according to The Associated Press.

Milan visit Turin on Sunday. Both teams in Milan have played the same number of matches as Inter still have to play a postponed match against Bologna. Napoli, who host Fiorentina on Sunday, are tied on points with Inter.

Fourth-placed Juventus played relegation-threatened Cagliari later on Saturday.

Inter were buoyed by a 1-0 win over Juventus last weekend but without their top scorer against Verona as Lautaro Martinez was suspended.

Perisic almost scored in the 18th minute, but Verona goalkeeper Lorenzo Montepo made a great save to deny the Inter striker.

The Croatian international, however, put in the opening goal four minutes later as he blasted off the left flank of the halfway line and passed through Barilla to shoot into the roof of the net.
