Intel picks Magdeburg, Germany for new European chip factory

Berlin, Feb. 26 (BNA): Intel has chosen a site in the eastern German city of Magdeburg to build a new multi-billion-euro chip factory in Europe and will announce the decision on March 4, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters. .

The company said in September that it could invest up to $95 billion in Europe over the next decade, and announce the locations of two new European chipmakers by the end of 2021, but no announcement has been made.

Germany ranked first on the list of potential candidates, with the Benzing local governments in Bavaria, Magdeburg and Dresden in eastern Germany trying to lure the American company.
