Information Minister receives heads of Gulf press associations

Manama, Feb. 11 (BNA): Information Minister Dr. Ramadan bin Abdullah Al-Nuaimi received today the heads of the Gulf Journalists Associations who are currently visiting the Kingdom of Bahrain, and praised their efforts in developing the press.


He said that such coordination meetings held in Bahrain reflect the Kingdom’s vision under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and support for efforts aimed at unifying Gulf media discourse.


He renewed the Ministry’s commitment to support the Gulf Press Union to assume its pivotal role and develop its work in a way that contributes to strengthening the Gulf historical relations.


The meeting, which was held in the presence of the President of the Saudi Journalists’ Association, Khaled Al-Malik, the President of the Bahraini Journalists’ Association, Isa Al-Shayji, the President of the Emirati Journalists’ Association, Muhammad Al-Hammadi, the President of the Kuwaiti Journalists’ Association, Adnan Al-Rasheed, and the President of the Omani Journalists’ Association, Dr. Mohammed Al-Araimi.


Proposals to amend the statute of the Gulf Press Union were also discussed, and future amendments and procedures that contribute to developing the work of the union and strengthening its role at the regional and international levels were discussed.


The meeting also praised Bahrain’s support for the Gulf press, and its effective contributions to the development of the federation’s work.


The attendees thanked Bahrain for hosting the headquarters of the Gulf Press Union, as well as its efforts since the founding of the union in 2005 in order to achieve the common aspirations of the press body in the GCC countries.
