Information Minister praises royal message marking World Press Freedom Day

Manama, May 3 (BNA): Information Minister Dr. Ramadan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi praised the royal message of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, which falls on May 3 of each year. He said that the message clearly reflects His Majesty the King’s respect for Bahraini journalists and media professionals and their contributions to serving the nation by adhering to the rules of the noble profession.

He stressed the development of the Bahraini press thanks to the visions and directives of His Majesty the King, which stem from a strong belief in the role of honest and objective journalism in promoting the democratic process in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He praised the main role of the Bahraini press as a partner in supporting the development and democracy process. He pointed out the need to work to achieve the aspirations of His Majesty the King by continuing to strengthen the Bahraini identity and strengthening the values ​​of patriotism and loyalty to the homeland.

The minister stressed the need for the press to fulfill its national responsibilities by increasing its ability to confront misinformation and hate speech in order to preserve the hard-won gains. He said that His Majesty the King’s emphasis on the importance of reaching an international formula to criminalize all hate speech is an important initiative that reflects an enlightened royal vision regarding the dangers posed by such speeches to people’s security, stability and well-being.

The Minister of Information expressed sincere thanks and gratitude to His Majesty the King for the role of the Ministry of Information in promoting press and media freedom. He pledged to continue efforts to highlight the civilized image of the Kingdom, preserve the national identity and support development efforts.
