Indian Premier League to be played in UAE from Sunday

New Delhi, Sept. 19 (BNA): The Indian Premier League (IPL), whose 31 cricket matches will be played in the UAE starting on Sunday, has described the opening match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium as “a momentous occasion as it is. Cricket fans will be welcomed back to the stadiums.”

The IPL management told the media that “the matches will be held in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi with a limited number of seats available, subject to COVID-19 protocols and UAE government regulations,” according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

In the history of the IPL, this will be the third time that their matches will be played in the Emirates instead of India. The UAE is considered a safe place due to the country’s management of the epidemiological situation.

The league, whose brand value is estimated at $6.8 billion, has millions of fans in India, the subcontinent and the Gulf. It will conclude its 14th season in Dubai on October 15, according to the schedule set by the organizers.
