WSP is looking for a health and safety engineer to ensure that health and safety policies and procedures are effectively built into across projects, sites and office environments in compliance with local and international rules and regulations.
A normal week includes:
* Manage the project’s HSE arrangements in accordance with the requirements of the WSP HSEQ management system, to ensure the protection of our people.
Manage environmental health and safety inspectors to ensure that they monitor the implementation of health and safety arrangements at the project site level, in accordance with statutory and client requirements.
* Develop and deliver health, safety and environment training for WSP employees including but not limited to; Induction, safe work practices.
* Review and approve contractor’s HSE plans, risk assessments and method statements against legal and client requirements prior to performing work.
* Plan daily morning field visits across project sites to ensure that health and safety measures are in place prior to commencing works.
* Conduct weekly joint HSE inspections with HSE inspectors and contractor staff and ensure that all corrective/preventive actions are closed.
* Organizing environmental health and safety meetings with clients, WSP project staff and contractors.
* Initiate and test emergency response plans and ensure that drills are implemented according to project schedule and performance standards.
* Ensure that HSE inspectors follow up on contractor accident investigation reports and corrective actions are identified and closed to prevent recurrence and provide technical guidance needed to protect against accidents.
* Perform regular site reviews safely.
* I liaise with enforcement authorities (PCFC and EHS checks) I prepare and submit monthly HSE reports in conjunction with contractor and client staff.

* Excellent communication skills and ability to influence
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related subject
*Must be qualified with relevant health and safety qualification – minimum NEBOSH IGC
* At least 10 years of experience in handling major construction projects
* Fluent in both English and Arabic.
