HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister chairs the weekly Cabinet Meeting


Manama, August 15 (BNA) His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, chaired today the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers at Al-Qudaibiya Palace.


The Cabinet began by thanking His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure, heads of government committees, and government agencies who participated in the Future Aspirations workshop.


The Cabinet indicated that their efforts contributed to identifying 27 policies and 113 initiatives that meet aspirations in a range of policy areas, including infrastructure, environment, legislative work, social and financial services, economy, government performance and digital transformation.


The Council of Ministers directed to continue all efforts to achieve these aspirations by launching programs that benefit the Kingdom and its citizens.


In celebration of the International Youth Day, the Cabinet affirmed its commitment to enhancing the contributions of Bahraini youth to the comprehensive development of the Kingdom under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.


The Cabinet also praised the commitment of His Highness the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister to amplify the role of Bahraini youth through continuous efforts to create valuable opportunities that encourage their participation and enhance their ability to contribute to the Kingdom’s progress and continuous development.


The Council of Ministers highlighted the contributions of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports led by the representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Action and Youth Affairs, His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in putting forward initiatives that pave the way for agriculture. Creativity and excellence of Bahraini youth.

The Cabinet also reviewed the memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and the Balance of Public Finance regarding the financial report of the Kingdom of Bahrain 2022 for the period ending on June 30, 2022.


The memorandum revealed the results of the semi-annual financial report, which are indicators of the outcome of the Kingdom’s commitment to achieving the financial balance program. The results showed an increase in the actual revenues collected by 52%, achieving savings of 33 million Bahraini dinars, which contributed to reducing the financing needs to repay international public debt securities, including bonds worth 1.5 billion US dollars, equivalent to 565 million Bahraini dinars, which were repaid. . Until July. This is due to the high oil prices in the world markets. These results are clear evidence that the government’s disciplined approach to fiscal responsibility and long-term sustainability has proven effective.


The Cabinet affirmed the continuation of adopting initiatives and unifying efforts to achieve the objectives of the financial balance program.


Then the Cabinet reviewed the memorandum of the Minister of Labor regarding the latest developments in employment and training for the first half of 2022. The memorandum indicated the employment of 14,321 Bahraini citizens, which represents 72% of the annual goal of the economic recovery plan. The priority plan is to employ 20,000 Bahrainis annually until 2024, and reduce the unemployment rate from 7.5% to 5.7%. These results came on the heels of the financial and economic packages launched during the global pandemic of Covid-19, the economic recovery plan and the launch of the National Employment Program.

Then the Council of Ministers expressed its condolences to the Arab Republic of Egypt and to the families of the victims of the tragic fire that broke out in Abu Sefein Church in Giza, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.


During the meeting, the Council of Ministers discussed several memoranda with the following results:


Agree to the following notes:


1. The Civil Service Council memorandum regarding the restructuring of a number of ministries and government agencies to improve the performance and efficiency of the public sector.


2- The memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and the balance of public finances regarding two reports on the consolidated final account of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the performance of the implementation of the general budget of the Kingdom for the fiscal year 2021.


3. A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Financial Balance regarding the establishment of an integrated health center in Salman City in cooperation with the private sector.


4. The memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on the proposed amendments to the various decrees related to the protection of antiquities.


5. Memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding an agreement between Civil Aviation Affairs in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States of America.


6. The memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the government’s response to four proposals submitted by the House of Representatives.

The Cabinet reviewed the following topics:


1 – A memorandum by the Minister of Consultative and Representatives Affairs regarding draft laws submitted by the government that remain with the legislative authority after the conclusion of the fourth session of the fifth legislative term.


Then the Cabinet reviewed a ministerial report submitted by the Minister of Tourism on the official visit of officials of the tourism sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
