HEC Board of Trustees endorses key academic appointments

Manama, April 12 (BNA): The Board of Trustees of the Higher Education Council met today and issued a number of decrees related to private universities.

The Minister of Education, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Supreme Elections Committee, Dr. Muhammad bin Mubarak Juma, presided over the session, which approved the following:

1. Joseph George Jabra takes over as a new member of the Board of Trustees of the American University of Bahrain (AUBH) replacing Dr. Keith Miller.

2. Dr. Shaikha Mai bint Sulaiman Al-Otaibi and Dr. Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, two new members of the Board of Trustees of the Medical University of Bahrain.

3. Dr. Rana Abdullah Sawaya Hatem holds the presidency of the University College in Bahrain.

4. Dr. Manish Verma, Vice President for Academic Affairs at University College of Bahrain.

5. Dr. Hatem bin Mahmoud Al-Masry holds the position of Vice President of the University of Applied Sciences for Academic Affairs and Development.

6. Mukhtar Al-Sayed Ali Muhammad Kazem Al-Hashemi, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Al-Ahlia University.

Dr. Juma affirmed the commitment of the Board of Trustees of the Supreme Committee for Higher Education to support higher education institutions to enable them to enhance their performance and achieve their goals.

He stressed that the Council will continue to exercise its regulatory role in the higher education sector to ensure the integrity and quality of its outputs.
