French Open night session to start earlier, organisers say

Paris, April 21 (BNA): Tournament Director Amelie Mauresmo said that the evening tournament of the French Open will advance by half an hour this year.

It will start in the year 2000 (local time) With an interactive presentation, the first point will be held in 2030.

Last year, players entered Court Philippe Chatrier to warm up at 2045 (1845 GMT), and the schedule was criticized for the lack of public transport in the event of a late finish.

The Paris metro stops running around 1:15 am.

The organizers were also criticized for scheduling mostly men’s matches in the main match of the day, and Mauresmo did not commit to offering more women’s matches this year.

“It’s hard to plan ahead,” she said.

“I don’t back down from anything. It’s the matches that will guide us. It would be a mistake to spread the stakes.”

Mauresmo added that the French Open would acquire the services of a company dedicated to erasing offensive messages from social media to protect players from online harassment.

“It’s great for the mental health of the players,” Mauresmo said. Clears the mind. Everyone will be able to go out to the stadium more freely. I can’t wait to see how players feel about this service.”

The French Open runs from May 28 to June 11.
