French Open: Nadal sets up 59th match with Djokovic

Paris, May 29 (BNA): Rafael Nadal passed a serious test in the fourth round of the French Open by defeating Felix Auger-Aliassime 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to set a record. Match 59 against Novak Djokovic.

Sunday’s thriller at Court Philippe Chatrier was the third five-setter Nadal ever played at Roland Garros, winning 13 of his 21 Grand Slam titles.

Nadal is 3-0 in those spanning competitions, which is part of his 109-3 points total in the claycourt championships, reports the Associated Press.

Two of those three defeats in Paris came to Djokovic, the 20-times major and two at the French Open. Last year, Djokovic beat Nadal in the semi-finals on his way to winning the title.

Djokovic leads their overall set 30-28. No other two men have played each other that many times in the professional tennis era.
