French embassy organizes Archaeological richness of Bahrain conference

Manama, September 29 (BNA) The French and Bahrain Alumni Network organized the “Archaeological Richness of Bahrain” conference at the Bahrain National Museum.

The lecture was attended by more than 30 French alumni Dr. Pierre Lombard, Director of the French Archaeological Mission in Bahrain, and Archaeological Advisor at the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA).

The archaeological mission played a major role in the development of Bahrain’s history, and made key scientific discoveries that helped document and understand the history of the country’s ancient civilizations.

Dr. Lombard noted that the new excavations that began at Abu Saiba in 2017 now direct the research towards the Hellenistic period and bring new basic knowledge about the Tylos period, noting that it is still poorly studied to date.

France has contributed uninterruptedly to the archaeological discovery in Bahrain, since 1977, and the French archaeological mission is an exceptional asset in France’s relations with the Kingdom.
