Foreign Minister meets UN High Commissioner for Human Rights

Geneva, March 1 (BNA): Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, met today with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Geneva, Volker Türk.


The meeting was on the sidelines of the high-level segment – the 52nd regular session of the Human Rights Council, taking place in Geneva, Switzerland.


Dr. Al-Zayani praised the constructive cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.


He affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to protecting human rights as a top priority, and reviewed the Kingdom’s steps in this regard in light of the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. Crown Prince and Prime Minister.


During the meeting, the UN official referred to the level of cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.


The meeting was attended by the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations in Geneva, Dr. Abdul Karim Bucheery, and the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Talal Abdul Salam Al-Ansari, and the accompanying delegation.
