Ford to open orders on F-150 Trucks amid production snags

Washington, May 6 (BNA) Ford Motor Company (FN) said on Friday that it will open orders for its popular F-150 Lightning truck next week as part of its plan to expand annual production to 150,000 units.

A source told Reuters on Wednesday that Ford is facing another hurdle in producing the F-150 pickup truck due to missing door handles.

The company hit a production snag in February after a battery fire. Production resumed in March.

“While the supplier part shortage affects some of our North American plants, we expect to compensate for all affected production,” the automaker said in an emailed statement on Wednesday.

Ford this week reported strong first-quarter revenue and reiterated plans to ramp up Lightning production to an average of 150,000 vehicles annually by the end of this year, Reuters reported.
