Fiorentina beats Torino 2-1 to reach Italian Cup semifinals

ROME, Feb. 1 (BNA): Fiorentina reached the Coppa Italia semi-finals with a 2-1 win over Torino on Wednesday, the Associated Press reports.

The Tuscan team would face either Roma or Cremonese, who were playing later. Other semi-final holders are Inter Milan against Juventus or Lazio.

After chances for both teams in Florence, the breakthrough was made in the 65th minute. A corner kick was taken to Alexa Terzic, who volleyed in Luka Jović’s cross for a shot at the far post.

Jonathan Ikoni sealed the score and a place in the final four with a superb strike into the bottom right corner in the last minute after fine work from Arthur Cabral.

Cabral also hit the crossbar in stoppage time before Yann Karamoh pulled one back for Torino to put in a tense three minutes at the end. Turin had won 1-0 at Fiorentina in the Italian League less than two weeks ago.
