FIFA investigating ‘abhorrent’ violence at Wembley

Manchester, 14 October / BNA / The International Football Association Board (FIFA) has opened disciplinary measures to look into the clashes that took place at Wembley Stadium between police and Hungary supporters in Tuesday’s match against England, saying that it “has zero tolerance for such hateful behaviour”.

The International Football Association added, on Wednesday, that it has also started an investigation into the incidents that occurred during the match between Albania and Poland in Tirana, in which bottles were thrown on the field after Poland scored a goal.

“Following analysis of the match reports, FIFA has opened disciplinary proceedings in relation to the matches England vs Hungary and Albania vs Poland in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers,” FIFA said in a statement.

Once again, FIFA strongly condemns the events that occurred in both matches and would like to state that its position remains firm and firm in rejecting any form of violence as well as any form of discrimination or abuse.

“FIFA has a very clear position that such abhorrent behavior in football is not tolerated.”

Police were attacked by Hungarian fans at Wembley after they moved to the ‘far section’ and had to retreat.

The Metropolitan Police said it took action after a host was subjected to racist abuse.

“Shortly after tonight’s match began at Wembley, officers entered the podium to arrest a spectator for a public order racist offense following comments made against a host,” police said on Twitter.

“When the officers made the arrest, minor disturbances erupted involving other onlookers. Order was quickly restored and there were no further incidents at this point.”
