Falling screen hits 2 dancers on stage at Hong Kong concert

Hong Kong, July 30 (BUS): A video screen fell and injured two dancers on the concert stage while the Cantop Mirror was performing Thursday night in Hong Kong, the Associated Press (AP) reported.

Videos circulating on social media showed mirror members Anson Lu and Aidan Lowe performing with dozens of dancers when one of the LED screens hanging on the stage crashed.

The falling screen appeared to hit one dancer on the head and body before turning on another artist as the audience screamed in horror. The videos showed that the rest of the actors on stage rushed to the aid of those who were exposed to the screen.

Police said the two dancers were conscious when they were sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. And local media reported that the hospital said that one of the dancers was in a serious condition, while the other was stable.

Police said three of the attendees were also taken to hospital, one feeling unwell and two others in shock, but they did not require medical treatment.

The concert was halted after the accident during the fourth of 12 scheduled concerts at the Hong Kong Coliseum, Mirror.

At Tuesday’s concert, band member FranKai Lowe appears to have lost his foot and fallen off the edge of the stage while giving a speech, according to clips on social media.

An online petition on safety issues related to the Mirror’s concerts was launched on the same night and garnered thousands of signatures. The petition urged organizers to ensure the safety of the Mirror and its dancers and to refrain from using unnecessary stage mechanisms or raised platforms.
