Executive, legislative branches continue discussion of general budget draft law for fiscal years 2023-2024

Manama, May 25 (BNA): The executive and legislative authorities continued their joint meetings today to discuss a draft law approving the state’s general budget for the fiscal years 2023-2024.

The meeting was chaired by Speaker of Parliament Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam, Speaker of the Shura Council Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh, and Minister of Finance and National Economy Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa. It was attended by ministers, members of the financial and economic affairs committees in the Shura Council and the House of Representatives, and a number of officials.

The meeting affirmed the continuation of cooperation between the executive and legislative authorities to reach a consensus on the draft general budget law, which is based on the principles of maintaining financial stability and sustainable economic growth, creating promising opportunities for citizens, adhering to the fiscal balance program, and continuing to improve the performance of government services.

The meeting reviewed the views of members of the legislative authority regarding the draft general budget law for the fiscal years 2023-2024. Inquiries of members of the Parliamentary Financial and Economic Affairs Committee were also answered.

The two teams from the executive and legislative authorities agreed to continue efforts to reach consensus on the state’s general budget for the fiscal years 2023-2024. They emphasized that the interests of citizens are the basis of all plans.
