Deputy Prime Minister inaugurates Bafco factory

Manama, Jan. 29 (BNA): Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa stressed the importance of integrated efforts to support the achievement of sustainable food security through effective partnership with the private sector to ensure sustainable food security. The efforts are in line with the goals of the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the priorities and policies of the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The Minister and the Economic Vision of the Kingdom of Bahrain 2030 Sheikh Khalid announced during his official inauguration of the Bahrain Agricultural Food Storage and Insurance Factory (BAFCO), in the presence of Parliament Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam and ministers. and officials.

The Bafco factory is located in the Bahrain Business Incubation Center (BBIC) in Hidd, and is specialized in producing and distributing food grains locally and exporting them internationally.

During the ceremony, Sheikh Khaled pointed out the interest of the private sector in its investments to promote various areas of development, including the establishment of food factories, which reflects the support of the government.

The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed the government’s commitment to implementing policies aimed at raising levels of food security, diversifying and sustaining supply chains, upgrading national capabilities in the field of food industries, investing in them, and providing the necessary support for food. Security projects and motivating the private sector to participate in them.

Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah toured the factory facilities, praising the modern advanced and safe technologies used in the various stages of production, wishing the factory officials success.

The President of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Samir Abdullah Nass, confirmed that one of the priorities of the 30th session of the Chamber is to achieve the vision of the Kingdom under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad and follow-up of His Highness. His Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, regarding access to food security, facing the challenges the world is witnessing in securing food and supply chains, and ensuring the flow of food by pumping more investments into the food industry sector.

He affirmed the support of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the efforts of Bafco in particular and the private sector in general to increase investments in food security projects.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bafco, Khaled Ali Al-Amin, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Deputy Prime Minister for his sponsorship of the opening of the Bafco factory, embodying his strong belief in the necessity of making more efforts to increase food production in a sustainable way, and to improve it. The global supply chain, and achieving the goals set by the Kingdom, led by His Majesty the King, and supported by His Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He pointed out that the food challenges that the world faced during the past years confirm the importance of maintaining the continued flow of food around the world while preserving the security of food supply chains.

He added that the food industry today requires developing solutions to secure food at the local and regional levels, noting that the BAFCO factory, whose construction and operation costs are estimated at more than $12 million, represents an encouraging and important step towards more investments in the food sector.

He stressed that the factory will provide multiple investment opportunities, which will reflect positively on the sustainable economic development of the Kingdom.
