Your role and responsibilities

• Technical Sales Professionals are technical experts and advisors to customers, IBM sales teams, and/or IBM business partners.
• As a Technical Sales Professional, you understand the client’s business requirements, technical requirements and/or the competitive landscape.
• Apply your business insights, build and maintain customer relationships, and integrate the IBM Data & AI portfolio into customer valued solutions and ensure customer readiness to implement technology solutions.
• The Technical Data and AI Sales Specialist will be a technical sales advisor and trusted advisor to IBM clients.
• Understand the client’s business and technical requirements,
• Apply industry-specific knowledge and experience, as well as deep product skill and competitive knowledge to bring new business and technology insights to specific clients, in order to help drive revenue for the data and AI solutions portfolio.

• Requirements, technical requirements and/or competitive landscape and application of your technical knowledge and expertise to deliver new solutions to your compliant clients.

Additional responsibilities
• Effective development and advancement opportunities in the Data Portfolio, AI, and Data Cloud Pak, primarily around data management, including IIS, Data Stage, Data Quality Optim, MDM and WKC.
• Provide strategic direction to executive decision makers regarding their information architecture to support the business transformation and their journey to AI.
• Deliver solutions workshops, product demos, technical education, and proof of concepts while demonstrating the business value of our data and AI solutions.
• Enable, support and work with the business partner ecosystem.
• Develop reusable industry-specific assets and demos.
• Collaborate with other internal IBM teams to achieve unparalleled customer satisfaction.
• Establish deep technical accounting relationships at each client site.
• Maintaining an understanding of the customer industry, including industry trends and industrial business processes
• Collaborate with IBM sales teams to define, design and detail technical aspects and feasibility of proposed solutions.
• Supporting customer technical escalation, on-site health checks, sharing of best practices, and designing solutions; And answer technical questions throughout the sales process in order to identify/progress/close sales and develop customer relationships.

The qualities
• Proficient in IBM’s hybrid data management portfolio, including IBM Information Server, IBM Data Stage, IBM Data Quality, MDM and Watson Knowledge Catalog
• Demonstrate a level of commercial acumen as it applies to the client’s business
• Skilled in consulting selling, with an understanding of client needs and IBM capabilities
• Commercially oriented and able to support comprehensive sales engagements with the ability to think, plan and act strategically
• Communication and interpersonal skills in complex environments
• Self-starting with a keen interest in research and building new skills

Technical and professional experience required
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering or Computer Science
• English: fluent
• At least 5 years of experience in information engineering, data warehousing, ETL, data integration and information management with hands-on experience in engineering or technical sales field

Preferred technical and professional experience
• Experience in using and developing infrastructure solutions including but not limited to: Big Data, Replication, Change Data Capture (CDC), DB2 Repository, and BigSQL
• Experience with enterprise wide distributed databases/solutions including but not limited to: DB2, PostGre SQL, MongoDB, Cloudant, etc.
• Knowledge of the Hadoop market including offers from Cloudera, Hortonworks, MapR
• Experience with devices such as Netezza, IIAS and IDAA
• Experience with cloud-native solutions
• Experience with IBM Cloud Parks
