China launches new meteorological satellite

Jiuquan, April 16 (BNA): China launched a Long March-4B rocket Sunday morning to put a new meteorological satellite into space.

The rocket lifted off at 9:36 am (Beijing time) from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China and quickly sent the Fengyun-3 07 satellite into its predetermined orbit.

The satellite will provide services for weather forecasting, disaster prevention and mitigation, response to climate change, and environmental conservation, Xinhua News Agency reported.

The mission was the 471st Long March carrier rocket flight, according to the Launch Center.
