BRCS paramedics train citizens, residents in “Cardiopulmonary resuscitation”

Manama, October 23 (BNA) The Bahrain Red Crescent Society set up a special wing in the Avenues Mall, where the paramedics of the Society briefed and trained many citizens and residents on “cardiopulmonary resuscitation” and how to provide urgent assistance to patients. People in their surroundings who may be having a heart attack. This training comes at a time when statistics from the World Health Organization indicate that heart disease accounts for 16% of causes of death globally.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Maryam Ibrahim Al-Hajri, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Faisal Radhi Al-Moussawi, the Society’s board member, and Mr. Mubarak bin Mubarak Al Said, the Society’s Secretary-General. Hadi and Dr. Kawthar Al-Eid, head of the first aid committee in the association, and Mrs. Fatima Abdel-Rahman, vice-chairman of the committee, and a number of committee members with the participation of the Royal Charity Organization. The Paralympic Committee, the General Sports Authority, in addition to clubs, sports federations and civil society institutions.

Over the course of an entire day, BRC paramedics provided information to attendees about CPR in several emergency situations, such as a heart attack or near-drowning, in which the patient’s breathing or pulse had stopped, using models and equipment for hands-on training, including training in rescue Heart by hand in four steps, continuous chest pressure at a rate of 100 to 120 compressions per minute until the arrival of an ambulance or professional help.

The organizing team conducted a live broadcast via video link of the events of this training for a period of three continuous hours, within the framework of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s partnership with the countries of the world on this occasion.

This event comes within the framework of the so-called “Arab Pulse Wave” emanating from the Arab World Cardiac Resuscitation Day, which is celebrated from 10 to 20 October every year throughout the Arab world, and as an extension of World Heart Day. Resuscitation established by the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent First Aid Reference Centre.

The CPR event comes within the framework of the Federation’s First Aid Guidelines for the Rescue of Victims of Cardiac Arrest, which was launched by the Federation under the slogan “All citizens of the world can save a life”, as the last days of October of each year became an annual day.
